Without a doubt, September is one of the best months for fishing Cape Cod. There’s plenty of reasons why this is the case. The early morning air has a crisp bite to it that was not present during August, the crowds at the boat ramp dissipate, and the fish show up in larger numbers and are more aggressive.

September weather is also usually pretty nice. Again for starters, the humidity and the predominant southwest wind have eased a bit. Greasy calm days are pretty common. Of course we will get a few days of a sustained northwest wind this month which will keep most folks off the water, however this is not always a bad thing. This rings especially true in Cape Cod Bay. A strong onshore wind will often light the fishing up in near-shore areas. Places like Scorton Ledge and Sandy Neck are two such places.

The best aspect of fishing during September is that the behavior of bass in Cape Cod Bay begins to change. The schools of bass you found back in July and August that would not bite a thing, are typically much more aggressive in September. Odds are that if you find the fish, you will be able to catch them.

Finding the fish in the first place also becomes easier as September inches its way towards October. As October approaches, big schools of bass move closer to the beachfront. Of course bass are found throughout the year in close to shore, however greater numbers of fish seem to move closer to the beach throughout this month. The days of trolling and cruising around in 60-70 feet of water are now (hopefully!) over. Searching in water as shallow as 20 feet often yields higher catches than spending time in deeper water at this time of the season.

Towards the end of the month, the bass will really put the feedbag on as they prepare for their southerly migration. I’m getting a little ahead of myself here, but I can not help but remember the great fishing we had during late September 2010. Of course, who knows what will happen in 2011. However the odds are in our favor that we will be able to at least put a few seriously large bass and giant tuna in the boat.

During September of 2010, a few giant tuna were seen crashing on the surface in the deeper water off Scorton Ledge.

Big blues and snapper blues invade Cape Cod during September. Pefect tuna bait size bluefish (20 inches or so) will often be around in full force. If 10 plus pound bluefish are your target, than look no further than Cape Cod Bay. Race Point, Sandy Neck and Billingsgate Shoal all produce big bluefish during September.

Snappers on the other hand, infiltrate the estuaries and harbors on the south-side of the Cape. Snappers are a ton of fun on light tackle. This is great fishing for the under 10 years of age crowd. These small bluefish taste great and also make good live bait for tuna.

Aside from giant tuna, bluefish and bass, many other species are also infiltrate the waters around Cape Cod during September. Bonito, false ablacore and school bluefin tuna, for example, can all be found swarming around Cape Cod throughout the month. Spanish mackerel are caught on occasion in Nantucket and Vineyard Sound during September. So far this season I have heard some very positive reports of mahi-mahi being caught with regularity around the high flyers south of the Vineyard.

Cape Cod has many fantastic fishing opportunities. All of these opportunities only get better as September turns into October. Now is the time to go fishing before the cold, windy days of November arrive!

When you hear people talking about salmon fishing, the discussion usually gets to involve Vancouver Island somehow and probably for a very good reason. Vancouver Island is a famous salmon home and the right place to try your fishing skills at catching these very noble fish. Not only the activity in itself proves very interesting, but fishermen come to accumulate very solid knowledge about the salmon subspecies, the part they play in the ecosystems, their special breeding habits and the like.

Heavy criticism has been directed towards Salmon Fishing on Vancouver Island together with accusations of endangering species by over-fishing for mercantile purposes. The subject remains a hot topic and there are states where salmon fishing is prohibited by law particularly during the mating season.

The Internet offers more details on the elements that ruin good salmon fishing or on the contrary increase the chances of success in the best of conditions for the environment. Many authors, who are enthusiast salmon fishers too, feel the need to share their experiences with the possible other inexperienced fishermen who want to try salmon fishing, and from such sources a good deal of things can be learned by the less experienced in the field.

The king salmon swims in the waters of Vancouver coming a long way from the Artic or the Atlantic ocean in search of superior water purity to lay its eggs. The king salmon shares the same routes with the silver variety, and even if there is a difference in the appearance and the size of the subspecies, they present common features. They will surely give you the excitement of a unique Salmon Fishing Port Hardy experience. You can fish the king salmon all year round in both fresh and salt water. Although the red salmon can be found in both types of water, in some areas these fish spend all of their lives in rivers only; Besides this peculiarity, they also distinguish themselves by the smaller size.

Saltwater salmon fishing is best done by trolling or angling a baited line and drawing it into the water, usually at the rear of the boat. Then, as for the best times for salmon fishing, cloudy days are the most rewarding as on bright sunny days the salmon will keep to the deep holes. Anyway, reviews and popular opinion indicate Port Hardy as the right place to go salmon fishing with a Fishing Charter Vancouver Island, but there could be other places more convenient from the perspective of the travel distance that you may want to try. Good luck!

Before purchasing some inexpensive fishing tackle, it's a standard of each fisherman to purchase a fishing tackle that is acceptable for a specific way of fishing or a particular fish to catch. Are you going to fish in a little stream? Little streams? A larger brook? A bigger Lake? How about fishing big ones or small ones? Fishing tackle have many options to choose between and the most effective way to choose them is to grasp what sort of fish do you want to catch and where are you going to fish.

B eginning your fishing, you will need a fishing rod and a fishing reel. It's not required to buy and expensive one. Therefore, by a standard one that is utilized by many fishermen. The most commonly used are fishing poles that have 6-7 feet long and it is a smart idea to utilise a fishing rod with a light weight for easier fishing. You can ask your nearest fishing shop about more of these brands. Ask them for a demo and handle it yourself so you know what sort of fishing rod will be suited for you.

Proceeding to your fishing, you will be needing sinkers, baits and fishing hooks. You may also require a bobber that indicated when a fish had bite on your bait. Again, it's not critical to buy dear ones. Since you are simply a newbie on fishing you need to use the standard fishing tackle but confirm it isn't sub standard. You can go browsing and search for the costs of each tackle so that you will have an idea of the costs that should be near the price of the fishing shop where you want to buy your fishing tackle.

And also, as a amateur angler, you really should know that before you fish, you ought to have a fishing license. Fishing licenses is available in the majority of the fishing shop. Fishing without licenses is precisely taboo and if it happens that you are caught without this, you will pay for a fine.

Now, you have got an notion of what kind of fishing tackle to pick, where to buy them and the importance if fishing with a license. What I have told you is simply a basic one so that the further learning will be more out there when you are on the actual location of fishing. It is OK if you're having a hard time because it's your first time. You'll get used to it and you'll be an expert as time rolls by. Have some fun!

When many people, singles and families alike, think about booking a holiday, many of them would only think about going to the beach for a fortnight's lounging on the beach under the sun and swimming in warm, azure sea.

When many people, singles and families alike, think about booking a holiday, many of them would only think about going to the beach for a fortnight’s lounging on the beach under the sun and swimming in warm, azure sea.

However, many of the best, most famous beach locations are magnets for hordes of people. It appears that most people like the sand, the sea and the sun. Now some people go to these destinations precisely because they are busy. They like the crowds and the night clubs that attract them. Mainly singles go to these types of places and a holiday romance is not far from many peoples’ minds.

Couples and older people may desire a little less noise, pollution and commotion. However, there are beaches which meet these requirements too. Often they are private beaches. Some have hotels on them but some do not. Those that do not frequently have inland beach cottage rental properties instead. These are nearly always self-catering.

When most people think of a beach it is automatically connected with the sea. However, this need not inevitably be so. There are also inland beaches on lakes and rivers. These beaches are usually referred to as inland beaches. Somewhere to stay can be a problem with even some of the best inland beaches.

Many of these inland beaches are just not well-known enough to make a hotel commercially viable, but some of them have cottage rentals instead. These cottages, or cabins sometimes, can be difficult to find if you do not book early enough. They are frequently complete homes, fully equipped with all the household amenities you have grown accustomed to: a fully furnished living room, multiple bedrooms, bathrooms, and a modern kitchen.

Inland beach cottage rentals are popular because they are often situated exactly on the water’s edge. This makes the patch of beach right before your cottage your private beach. You can sleep on it at night if it’s hot, lie there all day or set up a few fishing lines.

In the evenings, you can connect up with neighbours to have a party or keep yourself to yourself. For this reason, it is a good thought to check photos of the cottage before you make a booking.

If an inland beach cottage rental sounds just up your street, there are thousands to pick from in the United States and Canada. The Great Lakes are a particularly fine place to go. There are fantastic spots in the Finger Lakes region of New York state and along Lake Michigan and Lake Huron.

You will not be disappointed about going on holiday to an inland beach cottage rental property. There are so many variations that there is certainly something for every wallet and every family size. Singles are not so well catered for, but if you want a quiet holiday alone. maybe to study, then this might fitting be for you too.

You can fly into some of these resorts by seaplane, but it is more likely that you will take your own car or a rental car, if you want to get out and do some exploring further afield. Personally, I would rather hire a dinghy.

Owen Jones, the author of this piece, writes on many subjects, but is currently involved with the rental of Welsh coastal cottages.

Betta fish is one, if not the most sought after tank pets in different nations. Its bright colors, intricately shaped fins and interactive personality must have attracted aquatic life lovers of all ages. More than its interesting appearance there are must-know Betta fish facts that will surely fascinate and make a wannabe owner care for it properly.

Tracking back the hands of time, this type of fish was first spotted in Cambodia which was anciently known as Siam. This explains the origin of its other name Siamese Fighting Fish. Currently called Betta Fish or Betta Splendens, its glory as one of the most interesting pets has traveled towards the other continents of the world.

It is easy to spot one in a tank. They charmingly swim in their long flowing fins which are usually in various shades of blue, red, purple and white. Males appear in longer fins and more vibrant shade of their usual colors. Females wear stripes in their bodies and fins when healthy. When given proper Betta fish care, they are expected to grow up to two to three inches.

There are also amazing Betta fish facts that expose the behavior of this marine life. For one, males cannot be placed in one tank as they have the tendency to kill each other due to some territorial pursuits. Males and females alike can develop their own personalities. Some could be aggressive when being fed while some could be much tamed for you to pat. A few shows the characteristic of being teachable in performing simple skills in water like jumping rings.

Happy and healthy ones are very playful and swim with such grace. Slowness in movement and dullness in color are excellent indicators that there is something wrong with your fish. Knowing how to care for a Betta fish can spare you from losing these beauties that liven up your aquarium.

Betta fish tanks in general must have enough space on the water surface. This allows easy breathing for these fish which cannot breathe in the water. They drown in the water when they do not reach the surface to suck in air.

It is also advisable to have a spacious tank which can hold five to ten gallons of water – the ideal home for single fish. Besides the fact that they love to swim around, males need ample amount of clean water for building bubble nests in preparation for the birth of his precious eggs. In one corners of the tank, you will see the male Betta gulping air and forming bubbles covered with his spit. This ensures that it won’t pop long enough for the coming of the eggs.

Most owners share that the standard lifespan of these fish is two to three years only. However, some Betta fish facts show that under perfect conditions they can live for nine years. For this, the owner must provide regular amount of clean water for them to exercise in. If you bought yours from a pet shop, it has already lived a minimum of six months. Don’t fret as with proper care, it can live longer than that.

Crazy Gail, my friend, was working as a laborer on the project back when the first 4-lane high was being built in Juneau. Several miles from the work-site, he was living in his vehicle, parking on North Douglas Island, near Fish Creek out North Douglas Highway he cooked over a campfire enjoying the quite. The bears you could hear in the distance in the bushes were eating the fish running up the river.

Gail was trying to save as much money as possible, so he was living what he called a ‘modern poverty’ existence. As little as possible was spent on food, mostly crackers, peanut butter, potatoes, onions and cheese, with a bit of beer to soothe his palate. Most of his paycheck went into the bank. Juneau was not the place he spent his money. His money, I am not sure what he was going to do with.

Meat is something he never bought. He would stalk into the creek instead when it was quiet and there was no traffic late at night. There was always enough light to see well, because it was summer. Wearing his rubber boots, Gail would stand in the creek, waiting for a nice, fat salmon to swim by, and then shoot the fish with his .22 pistol in the head!

Grabbing the dead fish before it jerked or floated away, he would take it strait to the fire after cleaning it along the creek edge, to make dinner and enough fish, cooked, for lunch and breakfast the next day. Always well feed on a high protein diet was Gail.

The Fish & Game folks never caught on to his fish hunting, nor did anyone bother him about it. The only problem was that his camping and cooking and eating near a salmon creek invited a lot of attention from the local bears.

While stocks last we have smoked fish for FREE to ship where-ever you want, and for more colorful stories on Juneau, Alaska come with us for your whale watching experience.

Kimberley Fishing is a true fishing adventure.

Kimberley Fishing is a true fishing adventure.

This pristine and remote outback in the northwest corner of Australia is a fishermens wonderland with a wide variety of fishing environments. These include un-spoilt beaches, prime barramundi fishing waters, fish rich reef systems and blue water fishing at its best all surrounded by amazing scenery.

The Kimberley is a lightly populated and rugged land. Other than the one highway running through the Kimberley few paved roads exist and most others are rough bush tracks and dirt roads lacking maintainence. The monsoon season closes the majority of the later for as much as five or six over summer.

unlike much of Australia, only two seasons exist up in the tropics. The dry season from May to approximately end of September is characterized by nominal rain and hot daysaveraging in the low to mid 30′s.

The wet season starts with the “build up” to the onset of the rains from around October to the end of December when humidity and air and sea temperatures are rising. This is followed by the arrival of the monsoon usually around Christmas when it rains heavily till the end of March. All can vary by as much as 30 days.

March to November are the best months for fishing the Kimberley with Barramundi fishing at its best after the wet season has finished when the food-laden waters are running off the flood plains into the streams and estuaries. Barramundi are more often found in the lower stream systems and estuaries along the coast but can be found in saltwater or in freshwater far up stream. Many of these waters can be fished from riverside but better results will normally be achieved if fishing from a boat. Some of the best and most accessible river systems for Barra fishing are the Fitzroy, Ord, Pentecost, Keep and the King Rivers and their tributaries.

The Kimberley coast is a spectacular and remote outback area accessible in the most part only by boat. There are a number of charter vessels that cruise this remote coastal region from March to November annually offering both specialist fishing cruises and also general interest cruises that include activities focusing on nature, wildlife and Aboriginal culture. as well as fishing. The later are very good options for the fishermen with the non-fishing partner.

These cruises will include opportunities for barramundi fishing where 1 meter plus Barramundi are often landed, and Mangrove Jack, Queen Fish, Finger Mark and Trevally are always on offer. The reef systems such as the big Montgomery Reef are home to several species including Giant Trevally and Coral Trout and blue water and pelagic species include Sailfish, Dogtooth and other Tuna, Wahoo and Spanish Mackerel are often found cruising.

When fishing Broome, the major city of the Kimberley situated on the west coast the visiting angler has a wide selection of options. Broome fishing charters and fishing tours range from the half day to up to 2 weeks. Fishing in Broome area has a mixture of estuary and bluewater fishing and is well known for its visiting Sailfish in the dry season.

It should always be noted that there are dangers concerned with travelling round the Kimberley uneducated and unprepared. These hazards include breakdowns in outlying areas, shortage of drinking water and other supplies, heat stress and related issues, adverse weather events like cyclones and flooding and of course the ever present snakes, sea stingers and crocodiles. All of the Kimberley is a crocodile habitat.

The cost of getting to and travelling round the Kimberley is reasonably high and consequently most fishermen will most likely only visit once in a life-time. It is recommended that visitors should maximise their experience by utilizing the numerous excellent Kimberley fishing charters, guides, lodges, camps and live on board vessels that are available.
